Loopwheel Cotton Knit
Traditional loopwheel knitting machines in Wakayama rely on the pull of gravity, gently weaving air into the fabric without applying tension. The result is an exceptionally soft, supple knit that becomes more beautiful with time. Although loopwheel knitting is extremely inefficient — producing only about a meter of fabric per hour — local craftspeople remain committed to these machines and the rich, hand-knit quality they produce.
